New Hyundai Elite i20 2018 facelift India price, specs & features

Hyundai has launched a mid-life facelift of the Elite i20 hatchback at the 2018 Auto Expo. The new model, which comes with some subtle design changes on the outside and a few feature alterations, has been priced from Rs 5.35 lakh for the petrol variants and Rs 6.73 lakh for the diesel models (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

Hyundai first launched the Elite i20 in August 2014. From the day of launch, the premium hatchback managed to tick the right boxes of customer requirements and thus became the best-selling model in the segment. But with the launch of the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai struggled to give any major competition to the popularity of the Maruti brand name and thus saw a slight drop in monthly sales of the Elite i20. However, with the new 2018 facelift, the company is positively looking ahead to bring more customers to its showrooms, and thus improve its sales numbers.

Here’s everything we know about the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift:

Since the 2018 update is just a cosmetic facelift, Hyundai hasn’t increased prices of the Elite i20 hatchback by a huge margin. The outgoing model was priced in the range of Rs. 5.3 lakh to Rs. 9.2 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Hence, the new Hyundai Elite i20 2018 price has been pegged between Rs 5.35 lakh to Rs 9.15 lakh.

Petrol Era Rs 5.35 lakh
Petrol Asta (O) Rs 7.90 Lakh
Diesel Era Rs 6.73 lakh

Engine options on offer with the upcoming 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift have remained unchanged, except the 1.4-litre petrol engine that has been dropped from the lineup. Hence, the petrol models are powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine rated at 82 bhp and 115 Nm, while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the diesel i20 will get a 1.4-litre block with a 6-speed manual transmission and 89 bhp & 220 Nm on tap.

Speculations had earlier pointed towards the possibility of a new CVT gearbox to be offered with the 1.2-litre petrol engine, though the same hasn’t been announced yet. We thus expect that Hyundai India will add an automatic variant in the 2018 Elite i20 lineup at a later date.

Engine  Power Torque Gearbox
1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Petrol 82 bhp @ 6,000 rpm 115 Nm @ 4,000 rpm 5-speed manual

The 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift comes with some significant changes related to the car’s design. A majority of these changes are concentrated at the front. This includes a new ‘Cascade’ grille, similar to what is being offered with all new cars from the Korean manufacturer. The bumpers and fog lamps have been reshaped, while the headlamps house projectors with chrome inserts.

The 16-inch alloys wheels now feature a refreshed design. Moreover, the bootlid has been completely changed as it now houses the number plate, which was previously located on the rear bumper. The taillights too are slightly larger than before and get new light guides as well. The new Elite i20 2018 will be available with two new colours – Passion Orange and Fiery Red. Both these shades will also be offered with dual-tone treatment option.
