2019 Renault Kwid facelift launched at prices starting from Rs. 2.83 lakh

Renault India has launched a mid-life facelift of the Kwid hatchback. The new Kwid gets a ton of cosmetic updates and a few feature additions. Prices of the 2019 Kwid facelift start at Rs. 2.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The updated model is available in 5 trim levels – Standard, RxE, RxL, RxT and Climber. There are two petrol engine options on offer, similar to what was available on the pre-facelift model. Renault has started bookings for the 2019 Kwid on its official website as well as all authorised Renault dealerships across the country. Hence, interested customers can book the new Kwid facelift by paying a token amount of Rs. 5,000.

Renault has made some big cosmetic updates on the facelifted Kwid. The front-end has received the most changes as it now gets a split headlamp setup. This is similar to the arrangement that we have seen on big SUVs like the Tata Harrier and MG Hector. As a result, the LED daytime running light (DRLs) are located next to the front grille, while the main headlamp housing is located lower on the bumper. The rear end gets new bumper and a revised tail lamp setup with new LED light guides.

The top-spec Kwid Climber trim get additional faux skid plates on the front & rear bumper, large roof rails, orange highlights on the ORVMs and headlamp housing, and 14-inch gunmetal alloy wheels. The new 2019 Renault Kwid facelift is available in 6 colours – Zanskar Blue, Fiery Red, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze and Electric Blue.

The interiors too have received a significant update on the facelift Kwid. The highlight of the cabin is a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is the same system that we recently saw in the Triber MPV. Also borrowed from the Triber is the all-digital instrument cluster. Other changes include new fabric upholstery and a revised steering wheel.

Not much has changed in the new Kwid on the mechanical front. It continues to be offered with two petrol engines. The smaller 0.8-litre, three-cylinder block develops 54 PS, while the larger 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine is rated at 68 PS. Both engines come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while an AMT automatic is offered as an option in the latter. As of now, both these engines are BS-4 compliant. However, Renault has claimed that it will upgrade both engines to BS-6 norms before the April 2020 deadline.
