2020 Force Gurkha India Launch, Expected Price, Specs, Mileage, Colours

The Force Gurkha SUV competes in a very niche segment. It is a true-blooded off-road vehicle that appeals to people who want to explore untouched terrains or are simply someone seeking off-road adventures. The Gurkha, thanks to its bare-bones package is extremely mod-friendly, making it a great vehicle for people who like to build a vehicle for themselves, rather than buy a standard variant from the market.

The first-gen Force Gurkha was launched in 2008. The SUV hasn’t received any major updates since then. However, Force Motors is now prepping to launch the second-gen 2020 Gurkha in India soon.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new-gen Force Gurkha

2020 Force Gurkha India Launch

Force Motors revealed the new-gen Gurkha during the 2020 Auto Expo in February. The SUV was scheduled to launch in April. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused some delays in production. Force is yet to start series production of the new model in the country. Hence, the 2020 Force Gurkha India launch is now expected to take place around Diwali 2020. This means that we will hear about the prices of the new Gurkha SUV in the later half of October.

2020 Force Gurkha Expected Price

Force Motors is yet to make an official announcement regarding the India price of 2020 Gurkha SUV. The same will be revealed at the launch date. However, we expect the entry-level variant to be launched at Rs. 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom), while the range-topping variant might go upto Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

2020 Force Gurkha – Exteriors and Interiors

On the outside, the 2020 Gurkha might look similar to the previous-gen model. However, there are some major tweaks that make the SUV look a lot more modern. The front fascia gets circular LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs), a twin-slat grille, and turn indicators next to the bonnet. The black front bumper looks a lot more chiselled, while the snorkel adds to the SUV’s rugged stance. The metal body panels get some more cuts and creases that add dynamism to the Gurkha’s character. We expect Force to offer dual tone alloy wheels on the top-end trim of the 2020 Gurkha.

Interiors of the new Force Gurkha get comprehensive updates. It has a dual-tone dashboard, power windows, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, and even a touchscreen infotainment system. Safety of occupants is taken care by the presence of dual front airbags and ABS.

2020 Force Gurkha Competitors

In the Indian market, the only competitor for the Force Gurkha is the Mahindra Thar. It is worth noting that Mahindra is also working on a new-gen model of the Thar that will be launching sround the same time as the Gurkha. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki has also shown interest in this segment by showcasing the Suzuki Jimny during the 2020 Auto Expo. The Maruti Jimny will be launched in India in 2021 and will be a tough competitor for the Force Gurkha.
