Mahindra has announced that it will start accepting bookings of the 2020 Thar from October 2. This is the same date when the second-gen Thar will officially be launched in India.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar was unveiled in India on August 15. However, there were a few details that were not revealed that day. These include the official fuel economy figures, delivery timelines, and official prices of all variants.
The Mahindra Thar 2020 will be offered with two trim lines – AX and LX. The AX trim is aimed at hard-core off-road enthusiasts, while the LX line will come with a few additional creature comforts. The AX comes with a fabric soft top, while the LX comes with either a soft top convertible and hard top.
The range topping variant of the 2020 Thar comes with various top-end features like a touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, reverse parking sensors, power windows, and automatic climate control.
There has been some serious interest in the new Mahindra Thar ever since its unveiling. The company had announced that it will auction the first 2020 Thar to raise funds for Covid-19 related charity. This auction gathered the highest bid of over Rs. 85 lakh. A bid of this amount for a vehicle that is expected to cost around Rs. 12 – 15 lakh (ex-showroom) shows the amount of cult following that the new Thar has managed to accumulate.
