2020 Mahindra Thar launched, prices start at Rs. 9.80 lakh

Mahindra has finally launched the all-new 2020 Thar in India. The lifestyle off-roader has been priced from Rs. 9.80 lakh to Rs. 14.01 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It is available in two major trim lines – AX and LX with a total of variants and 4 powertrain options. Bookings of the new Thar have commenced from today across all Mahindra dealerships in India as well as the company’s official website. However, deliveries will begin from the 1st of November.

The all-new Thar is surely one of the most anticipated launches of this year. The Indian carmaker has tried to make the Thar a lot more appealing to not just hard cord off-road enthusiasts, but also to regular automotive enthusiasts who are looking for a vehicle that can stand out from the crowd. Popularity of the new Thar can be gauged by the fact that the Auction for the first model of the Thar attracted the highest bid of Rs. 1.11 crore.

New Mahindra Thar – Variants on offer

The all new Thar is available in 2 trims – AX that is inclined towards adventure junkies and LX that is aimed at city dwellers looking for a few more creature comforts.

The Mahindra Thar AX gets steel rims, a fixed soft top, dual front airbags, ABS, side facing rear seats and a fixed roll cage. The AX trim can be had with either a petrol-manual combination or a diesel-manual powertrain. For the petrol version, there is also a Std (standard) variant that missed out on the locking differential. This variant is the entry-level model of the 2020 Thar and is priced at Rs. 9.80 lakh.

There is also a Thar AX (O) variant on offer. Again available with the petrol and diesel manual powertrains, this variant gets forward facing rear seats and a convertible soft top. There is also an opion of a hard top, but it is only available with the diesel engine.
