Facelifts of Tata Tiago, Tigor and Nexon revealed, Bookings open

Tata Motors has officially revealed the facelifted versions of its three most successful models in India – the Tiago hatchback, the Tigor compact sedan, and the Nexon compact SUV. However, the carmaker has just unveiled the new models. An official launch will take place later this month, preferably with the launch of the Tata Altroz on Jan 22. Meanwhile, bookings for the 2020 Tiago, Tigor and Nexon have also officially been opened at a token amount of Rs. 11,000.

In addition to having new designs and features, the facelifted versions also get BS6 compliant engines. It is worth noting that the Bharar Stage 6 emission norms will become mandatory for all new vehicles to be sold in India from April 1, 2020. As a result, Tata Motors has proactively started updating its lineup ahead of the impending regulatory compliance.

Let’s talk about the changes made to all three new Tata cars individually.

New Tata Tiago Facelift 2020

The Tiago facelift gets a new front fascia that is clearly inspired by that of the Altroz premium hatchback. As a result, it gets sharper headlamps that merge with the front grille. The grille itself is chrome-lined and is placed at an angle such that the top edge protrudes more than the bottom one.

New Tata Tigor Facelift 2020

Like its predecessor, the Tigor Facelift borrows most of its design elements from the updated Tiago. The front fascias of the two cars are almost identical, with the compact sedan getting an additional pair of LED daytime running lights (DRLs) on the front bumper. The boot continues to be neatly integrated with the overall profile of the car and come with clear taillights and a bootlid mounted number plate.

New Tata Nexon Facelift 2020

The Nexon facelift gets quite a similar styling to what we recently saw in the Nexon EV. As a result, it gets a higher bonnet-line than before, along with sharper headlamp assemblies and a more vertically stacked front bumper. The circular fog lights are located in larger housings now, while there are a few pearl white plastic inserts thrown around to make the compact SUV look more flamboyant.

Tata Motors has also announced that there will be some interior tweaks and feature additions made to each of the three facelifts. However, the carmaker is yet to reveal complete details of the same. It is also worth noting that Tata had earlier revealed that it will be adding commected car tech across all its models. However, it is not yet known whether the new Tiago, Tigor and Nexon facelifts will be getting this much sought-after feature.

Under the hood, the Tiago and Tigor Facelifts will only get a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that has been tuned for lower emissions to satisfy the stringent BS6 norms. Hence, the 1.05-litre diesel offered in the pre-facelift models will be discontinued. Meanwhile, the Nexon will continue to be offered with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. All three models will continue to offer 5-speed manual and AMT automatic gearbox as standard.

With the updates, the cars are definitely going to be slightly costlier. Hence, except the Tiago and Tigor facelifts to get a price hike of around Rs. 15,000. However, the Nexon 2020 will get costlier by a significantly big amount of close to Rs. 80,000.
