The Audi Q2 SUV was first unveiled globally in 2017. After a couple of years, the entry-level SUV from Audi will launch in India in the month of October 2020. Upon launch, the Q2 will become the most affordable Audi SUV on sale in India. Bookings have officially commenced at all authorised Audi dealerships as well as the company’s official website. Booking price for the Audi Q2 is pegged at Rs. 2 lakh.
The Audi Q2 is the smallest SUV ever produced by Audi. It is 4,191mm long, 1,794mm wide and 1,508mm tall, and has a ground clearance of 200 mm. As a result, it looks like a raised hatchback, instead of a proper SUV. However, Audi has added certain design elements on the Q2 to pull off the SUV image. These design cues include black body cladding, an upright front fascia, a large single frame grille and beefed up wheel arches.
The UK-spec models of the Audi Q2 SUV come with four engine options – 1.0L TSI petrol, 1.4L TSI CoD petrol, 1.6L TDI diesel and 2.0L TDI Quattro diesel. In India, the SUV will be offered with the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Transmission options on offer will include the company’s 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. No diesel engine will be offered with the Q2 in India.
Audi Q2 India – launch date
The Audi Q2 SUV will be launched in India sometime in the month of October 2020. It is worth noting that Audi already has a facelift version of the Q2 on sale in some European markets. However, the model being launched in India will be the pre-facelift version.
Audi Q2 India – expected price
The biggest talking point of the Audi Q2 in India will be its price. Audi has a very narrow gap to place the Q2 SUV in the country, thanks to the bigger Q3 expected to be priced from Rs. 40 lakh. The Q2 is significantly smaller than the Q3 and also gets less powerful engines. As a result, the company will need to price the new Audi Q2 at a slight margin as compared to the Q3, in order to justify the bigger model’s higher price tag. We are thus expecting a starting price of around Rs. 35 lakh for the Q2.
