India’s first all-electric superbike will make its debut at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo. This expo is scheduled from February 9 – 14, 2018 in Greater Noida. Called the Emflux One, the electric superbike has been developed by a Bangalore-based Startup – Emflux Motors.
Founded by Varun Mittal, who is also the current CEO of the company, Emflux Motors has been working on its first production bike for a couple of years. The 22-member team is said to have spent over a year in the development of the new all-electric superbike.
Interestingly, even if we leave the electric powertrain aside, the Emflux One will be India’s first indigenous superbike. Hence, the fact that it will have an all-electric propulsion system further enhances the anxiety over its launch in India.
Emflux One expected price in India
The Emflux One electric superbike is expected to be priced around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). This will make it a head on rival to various mid-level sportsbikes like the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Triumph Street Triple. The company is also hoping to receive some subsidies from the centre government for all-electric vehicles, in order to further bring down the prices of the Emflux One.
Emflux One specifications
The Emflux One will be powered by a liquid-cooled AC induction motor that will draw power from a 9.7 kWh battery sourced from Samsung. This powertrain is expected to develop 67 bhp and 84 Nm of peak torque. Emflux Motors claims that the Model One will be able to cover a distance of 200 km on a single charge. Performance figures too look promising, as the Emflux One is claimed to have a top speed of 200 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration haul of 3.0 seconds.
To handle such alarming power figures, Emflux will be equipping the electric superbike with a high-end braking system from Brembo, along with a Continental Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). As with all electric vehicles, the Emflux One will also come with a regenerative braking system that will charge the batteries through the braking energy that is generally lost as heat.
