The 2018 Ford Figo facelift has been spotted in India for the first time. The spy shots don’t reveal much about the updated design of the hatchback, thanks to the heavy camouflage that disguises the car. However, there are a few elements that are visible through the covers.
These new spy shots show that Ford has started working on a mid-life update for the Figo hatchback for the Indian market. The updated model was earlier spotted during one of its test runs in Brazil.
Ford will likely be unveiling the facelifted Figo 2018 in international markets by the end of this year. However, an Indian launch is expected to take place next year. With the new Ford Figo 2018, the American automaker will try to boost the Figo’s value for money image and offer more features for its price. Though the current model Figo is a fairly potent and loaded car, it hasn’t been able to find a large chunk of buyers in India. With the facelift, Ford might expect to boost the hatch’s sales figures and thus enhance the company’s market share.

Though it is hard to make out the changes under the heavy camouflage, the new Ford Figo 2018 is expected to get a new front nose, with a revised grille, tweaked headlamps and a new bumper with more prominent fog lamp enclosures. The rear will get some minor changes to the tail light cluster and a revised bumper layout. The spotted models were also shod with new multi-spoke black alloy wheels, which might be the only other change visible at the sides.
On the inside, the 2018 Figo facelift will likely get a new touchscreen infotainment system that will come with Ford’s SYNC3 AppLink platform. This will probably be the same system that has been introduced in the recently updated 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift. In order to accommodate this touchscreen system, designers might tweak the dashboard layout a bit. Meanwhile, the seat upholstery is expected to get some minor changes, while all other dashboard elements will likely remain the same.
No powertrain related changes are expected for the Ford Figo 2018 facelift. As a result, it will likely continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel unit. However, Ford might replace the 1.5-litre petrol engine that currently comes with an automatic gearbox with its new 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder Dragon power plant. This is the same engine that is expected to be introduced in India under the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift.
2018 Ford Figo facelift India launch
No official announcement about the India launch of 2018 Ford Figo facelift has been made till date. However, it is likely to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Meanwhile, an official launch will likely take place in mid-2018. We will update this section once there is more clarity on the new Figo’s launch date in the country.
2018 Ford Figo facelift expected price
Since the new Figo will be essentially a cosmetic update with no major changes, Ford won’t be making any steep changes in the prices either. The Figo is already struggling to perform against competitors like the Swift and Grand i10. A price hike for the facelifted model will only make matters worse. As a result, it is highly unlikely that we would see a steep rise in the prices of the Ford Figo facelift.
As a result, it is likely that the 2018 Figo becomes costlier by around Rs. 10,000, as compared to the current model.
New Ford Figo 2018 Specifications
The Figo is expected to remain mechanically unchanged for the 2018 model. The manual transmission models will continue to be offered with either a 1.2-litre petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel. The diesel engine is surely one of the best performing powerplants in this segment. However, the petrol variants could do with a more powerfull mill.
Things get interesting for the petrol automatic variant. Currently, this variant gets a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine. Reports suggest that Ford might introduce its new 1.5-litre Dragon petrol engine in the AT variants of the Figo facelift. However, this info is yet to be confirmed.
Engine | Power | Torque |
1.2-litre Petrol | 88 bhp @ 6,300 rpm | 112 Nm @ 4,000 rpm |
1.5-litre Petrol AT | 110.4 bhp @ 6,300 rpm | 136 Nm @ 4,250 rpm |

Ford Figo 2018 facelift
The 2018 Ford Figo will come with some cosmetic changes that will enhance its looks and road presence. The Figo is already a smart looking car and the upcoming updates are expected to further modernise its looks. In its current form, the Figo lacks some features that its competitors offer. However, with the 2018 facelift, the company is aiming to eradicate such limitations. In the powertrain department, the Figo is still one of the best cars to drive. The same is expected to carry forward in the facelift as well.
