The Honda Activa is a name that every Indian can relate to. With a customer base ranging from college going students to senior citizens, the Activa can easily be considered as the most widely accepted two-wheeler in the country. And with such a strong fan base, there are no doubts that the scooter sells like hot cakes throughout the year. In fact, Honda sells over 2 lakh units of the Activa, every month!
And thanks to this huge monthly sales figure, the Honda Activa has managed to cross yet another milestone in its life time. Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) have recently rolled out the 1,50,00,000th unit of the Activa from their scooter-only plant in Gujarat. As a result, around 1.5 crore Honda Activas has been sold in India till date. This is surely a huge figure and something that will take a lot of time to beat.
The Activa was launched in India in 2001. In the first year, it sold 55,000 units. By December 2005, the scooter had clocked 10 lakh sales. Subsequently, Honda achieved the 50 lakh Activas sold mark in June 2012, while the 1 crore milestone was crossed in July 2015.
The Activa currently competes with the likes of the Hero Maestro and TVS Jupiter. The recently launched Aprilia SR150 is also in this segment, though it is slightly more costly.
