Upcoming Toyota Cars in India in 2017 & 2018 | Full list at CarsIndia

Toyota has been present in the Indian market for around two decades. In all these years of its presence in the country, the company has introduced various high-potential products that managed to revolutionise their respective segments. At present, the Innova Crysta and Fortuner continue to be market leaders of the full-size MPV and SUV segments, respectively. Additionally, the Etios sedan is also performing satisfactorily well for the Japanese carmaker, mainly because of its popularity as an ideal car for Ola / Uber in India.

In order to further firm its hold on the Indian car market, Toyota will be launching many new cars in India in 2017 and 2018. Toyota cars are known for their reliability, robust build quality and satisfactorily juiced engines. As a result, Indian customers, especially those who have previously owned Toyota vehicles, are excited about all upcoming Toyota cars in India. This makes it essential for us to list down a few upcoming cars from Toyota that will soon be launched in India.

While you might have seen some alarmingly long lists on other websites, mentioning vehicles like the Toyota Rush on the list of upcoming Toyota cars in India, we would only include cars that are likely to be launched in the country in the next couple of years:

Upcoming Toyota Cars in India – Toyota Vios

The Vios will be Toyota’s attempt to take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City. It will be launched at a price that will be slightly higher than that of the current Etios sedan. It has been around two years since Toyota has been testing the Vios in India. However, the automaker hasn’t mentioned any official details about the Vios India launch yet. But, our sources inside the company indicate that the next big launch from Toyota will indeed by the Vios sedan, which will likely be unveiled during the 2018 Auto Expo.

The Vios is expected to come with a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel engine, similar to the arrangement found on the Toyota Etios. However, this new sedan will be more upmarket in terms of construction as well as features on offer. The Vios is expected to come with projector headlamps, LED DRLs, sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, etc.

Upcoming Toyota cars in India – Toyota CHR

This is undoubtedly the most awaited Toyota car in India. The CHR will be Toyota’s first contender in the country’s rapidly emerging small SUV segment. Owing to its unconventional and sharp looks, this upcoming Toyota SUV in India has the caliber to be an instant success, provided Toyota price it realistically.

Details about the specifications and features on offer aren’t known yet. However, the CHR is expected to be launched by the second half of next year.

Launch Date Second Half 2018
Expected Price Rs 15 Lakh

  • Toyota Vios
  • Toyota Camry
  • Toyota CHR

The most high-potential upcoming car from Toyota is the CHR crossover SUV. Aggressive styling will surely help it to gather significant interest from Indian customers. The Vios too will likely be able to join the three-way battle in the C-segment of sedans, which currently includes the Maruti Ciaz and Honda City. On the other hand, the new-gen Camry won’t really be a groundbreaking product for Toyota, owing to its higher price tag that takes it in the territory of sedans from luxury carmakers like BMW, Audi and Mercedes.
