Hyundai has announced the official commencement of bookings of the Venue compact SUV in India. It can be booked online, through the Hyundai India website, or by visiting any company authorized dealership in the country. The Hyundai Venue will be launched in India on May 21.
The South Korean automaker has already unveiled its first compact SUV in an event in India, as well as during the New York International Auto Show. As a result, we now know that the Hyundai Venue will come with the characteristic Hyundai cascading grille at the front, finished in chrome on higher variants. The headlamp setup will include a slit type assembly at the top, between the bonnet and the bumper. Meanwhile, the main headlamp assembly will sit slightly lower on the front bumper, traditionally where fog lamps are located. Interestingly, this setup has become a design norm for various new SUVs, including the Tata Harrier and the upcoming MG Hector. The main headlight assemblies have a rectangular LED border that works as the daytime running lamps (DRLs).

We also know that Hyundai will be offering dual tone paint schemes for the Venue, most likely on the higher end trims. Additionally, dual tone alloy wheels, black plastic body cladding, and blacked out A, B and C pillars.
In true Hyundai fashion, the Venue compact SUV will come loaded to the brim with features. Most prominent ones include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while also being responsible for showing the feed from the rear parking camera. Hyundai claims to have loaded the Venue SUV with 33 connectivity features, out of which 10 have been developed specifically for the Indian market. Other features to be offered with the Venue compact SUV will include a sunroof, and safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, as well as electronic stability control.
We know that on launch, the Hyundai Venue compact SUV will come with three engine options. The petrol models will be powered by either a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged unit or a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder powerhouse. Both these engines will develop close to 100 hp, though the smaller engine will develop a lot more torques, thanks to the added turbo charger. Meanwhile, diesel customers will get a single engine option – a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder diesel borrowed from the Verna. Interestingly, the 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the 1.0-litre turbo petrol will come with a 7-speed dual clutch automatic. This will make the Hyundai Venue the only compact SUV on sale in India to get a dual clutch transmission.
Once launched, the Hyundai Venue will compete in the compact SUV segment of the Indian car market. As a result, it will rival the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza. We expect the Hyundai Venue price in India to be pegged in the range of Rs. 8 – 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
