Jawa Perak - Everything you need to know!

The Indian market has finally received its first affordable Bobber motorcycle. It’s called the Jawa Perak, and it is the third model to come under the revived Jawa range. It will thus be sold alongside the standard Jawa and the Forty Two.

Owing to its unconventional styling and the cult Jawa name, the Perak has attracted significant attention from prospective buyers. We have thus collected all details that you should know about the new Jawa Perak bobber motorcycle.

Jawa Perak price in India

Jawa has launched the Perak at a price of Rs. 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Interestingly, the company had revealed the motorcycle last year with a price tag of Rs. 1.89 lakh. The hike of Rs. 6,000 is likely due to engine being upgraded to the upcoming BS-6 emission regulations.

Jawa Perak bookings and delivery date

Bookings for the Jawa Perak will officially commence from January 1, 2019. However, deliveries will begin from April 2, 2020. This 4-month waiting period at launch is similar to what we saw after the launch of the standard Jawa and the Forty Two.

Engine and Specifications

Powering the Jawa Perak is a BS-6 compliant 334 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is capable of putting out 30 PS and 31 Nm of peak torque. The engine is thus slightly larger than the one we see on the other two Jawa motorcycles in India. This is due to the larger bore on the Perak, which helps in delivering more power and torque. Meanwhile, transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.

The Jawa Perak is built on a double cradle tubular frame. It comes with telescopic hydraulic forks at the front and a 7-step adjustable monoshock unit at the rear. Braking setup includes a 280 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear, aided by a dual-channel ABS unit.

Jawa Perak features

Jawa designers have made sure that the Perak stands out from other motorcycles in this price range. To achieve this, they have given the bobber a stealth look. As a result, there’s no chrome elements of the bike. The Jawa Perak is available in a stealth paint scheme, with parts like the engine and wheels being blacked out.

The motorcyle has a single seat setup, bobbed fenders and a chopped exhaust tip. The instrument cluster includes a an analogue speedometer and a digital odometer. There is also a standard halogen headlamp on offer. We would have liked an all LED setup here to add a pinch of modernisation to the Perak’s character.
