Kia Motors India has finally launched the Sonet Compact SUV in the country. The much-awaited car has been priced from Rs. 6.71 lakh to Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It is worth noting that these prices are introductory in nature. Hence, only the first 1 lakh units of the Sonet will be sold at these prices, post which Kia will likely introduce a price hike.
The Sonet is available with two trim lines – Tech Line and GT Line. The Tech Line will hav variants – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX and HTX+. Meanwhile, the GT Line will have a single variants on launch – the top-spec GTX+.
Built on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet also borrows its engine specification from its sibling. As a result, there are three engine options on offer – a 1.2-litre NA petrol with a 5-speed manual gearbox, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol with a iMT and a DCT automatic gearbox, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel with a 6-speed manual and a torque converter automatic gearbox.
The Sonet will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV300, and Honda WRV.
