KTM 250 Adventure India launch soon, might also be introduced globally

KTM is said to be working on an adventure-tourer version of the 250 Duke. Likely to be called the 250 Adventure, this new model is said to being developed keeping in mind the Indian market. However, KTM will surely want to leverage its rallying pedigree to sell this budget-oriented adventure motorcycles in many global markets as well.

It is worth noting that the KTM 390 Adventure, based on the 390 Duke, is currently one of the most awaited launches in the Indian market. This is a testament of how popular the KTM brand is in the country. As a result, a more affordable 250 cc version is bound to bring-in more customers to the KTM bandwagon.

The 250 Adventure is expected to share a lot of its styling elements as well as mechanical components with its yet-to-be-revealed elder sibling – the KTM 390 Adventure. While we still haven’t got an official look at the 390 Adventure, various spy shots have already shown what this upcoming KTM adventure motorcycle will look like.

It is not yet known how far will KTM go to differentiate the 250 Adventure from the 390 Adventure. The bike maker could either just plonk a different engine while keeping the same cosmetics, like it did on the 125 Duke and 200 Duke. Or there could be a few new cosmetic elements and/or colour schemes for either of the two models.

We expect the KTM 250 Adventure to come with halogen headlamps, instead of the LED units seen on the 390 Adventure. Also, the full-coloured infotainment screen from the elder sibling isn’t expected to make it to the 250 Adventure.

Powering the KTM 250 Adventure in India will be a 250 cc engine. We expect KTM to offer a BS-6 compliant version with power around 20 PS and a peak torque of close to 28 Nm. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 250 Adventure will likely get the same 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels that are seen on the 390 Adventure. This arrangement makes the bike feel planted on rough terrains.

When KTM unveils the 390 Adventure motorcycle at the EICMA show later this year, there is high probability of the 250 Adventure to be on its side. However, the Austrian manufacturer might also delay the smaller bike’s unveiling and showcase it at the 2020 Auto Expo in India.

As per reports, the KTM 390 Adventure will cost around Rs. 3 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. As a result, we expect the 250 Adventure to be pegged around Rs. 2.6 lakh, making it a worthy motorcycle to wait for.
