Mahindra TUV300 Plus launched, priced from Rs 9.70 lakh

Mahindra has launched a long-wheelbase version of the TUV300 compact SUV. Called the TUV300 Plus, this new addition to the automaker’s range of UVs in the country is priced from Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The TUV300 was launched to take advantage of the sub 4-metre excise duty benefits offered to small cars in India. As a result, Mahindra engineers had to limit the TUV’s length to just 3,998mm. The company has now decided to introduce a longer version of the car. The TUV300 Plus is 4,400mm in length, 1,835mm in width, and 1,812mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,680mm, which is similar to that of the regular TUV300.

Cosmetically, the TUV300 Plus looks similar to the regular model, especially at the front. The fascia adorns a 5-slat grille, boxy bumper, and angular headlamps. The biggest change is visible from the side, as the vehicle is stretched to extract enough space for a third row of seats. The rear end features new wrap-around tail lights and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

On the inside, the TUV300 Plus features a dual-tone cabin layout. It is a 9-seater, which makes it highly practical in nature and thus a heartthrob for family needs. Features on offer include central locking, power steering, all power windows, internally adjustable outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs), and central locking.

Powering the TUV300 Plus is a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 120bhp @ 4,000 rpm and 280Nm of torque @ 1,800-2,800rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox.
