Maruti Celerio X launched, prices start from Rs 4.57 lakh

Maruti Suzuki has launched the Celerio X pseudo crossover in India. It has been priced in the range of Rs 4.57 lakh to Rs 5.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 2018 Maruti Celerio X is available in four trim levels – VXi, VXi (O), ZXi and ZXi (O). All four trims can be opted with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT automatic unit. It is worth noting that the Maruti Celerio X crossover is available only with a petrol engine, as the 2-cylinder diesel powerplant of the regular Celerio has already been discontinued.

The Celerio X is based on the regular Celerio and thus borrows significant design characteristics from it. However, Maruti designers have fiddled around with some elements to add a crossover-ish feel to the Celerio X looks. At the front, the car gets a new bumper with larger fog lamps, a new grille and smoked headlamps. The side profile reveals body cladding around the wheel arches, roof rails, a blacked out B-pillar and new gloss black alloy wheels. The rear too houses an updated bumper with added black inserts, new reflectors and a faux silver skid plate.

Interiors of the new Maruti Celerio X cross get an all black layout. Moreover, white and orange inserts around the dashboard and seats add some minor detailing and break the monotony of the cabin. All other features are a straight lift from the regular Celerio range.

While there are some noticeable design changes on the outside and inside of the rugged Celerio variant, under the hood is the same story. The Celerio X is thus powered by a 998 cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 67 bhp and 90 Nm of torque. It can be opted with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT automatic unit.

It is worth noting here that the Maruti Celerio X comes with driver side airbag as standard across all variants. Moreover, passenger side airbag and ABS can be opted as an optional extra on any variant.
