Maruti Ciaz, S-Cross, Baleno & Vitara Brezza get Android Auto update

Maruti Suzuki is known for sharing parts amongst its range of cars. In the recent times, the company has been using the same 7.0-inch touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system in all its cars above 5 lakh rupees. The Ciaz, S-Cross, Baleno, Vitara Brezza, Ignis and the new-gen Dzire share the same infotainment system on their respective top-end models. However, there was a major difference between the systems used in these cars.

While the hardware is identical, older SmartPlay systems didn’t support Android Auto, while newer models came with the said connectivity feature. As a result, cars like the Ciaz, S-Cross, Baleno and Vitara Brezza didn’t have Android Auto. On the other hand, recently launched products like the Ignis and the new-gen Dzire 2017 came with Android Auto from day 1.

Owners of the older models were thus constantly looking forward to a software upgrade for the SmartPlay system that would bring Android Auto compatibility to cars like the Ciaz, S-Cross, Baleno and Vitara Brezza. Maruti now seems to have heard its customers as service centres have been given a software update, using which, all older SmartPlay systems that didn’t have Android Auto can be given the feature.

So if you are an owner of the top-end variant of Ciaz, S-Cross, Baleno or Vitara Brezza, contact your nearest Maruti service centre and ask for an update to the SmartPlay system and enjoy the benefits of the Android Auto connectivity platform. Believe us, it will make a world of difference in the way you communicate with the car.
