MG Motors India has unveiled its all-electric eZS SUV in the country. It will be the company’s second car launch in India, after the MG Hector goes on sale in June this year. As things stand, the MG eZS is expected to become the first electric SUV in India. The company has even revealed that
The eZS is essentially an all electric version of the MG ZS SUV that is already on sale in various international markets. It borrows the design language from its conventionally powered sibling. As a result, the headlamp assemblies, front grille, silhoutte, and rear profile of the MG eZS are similar to what we have seen on the international-spec ZS.
Announcing the MG eZS India launch, the company’s President and MD – Mr. Rajeev Chaba, commented that the electric SUV will make electric mobility more accessible for Indian car buyers. However, he also suggested that in order to achieve an aggressive price of the eZS, the company is expecting the Indian Government to announce some subsidies or other incentive schemes for electric car buyers in the country.
Specification related details about tbe MG eZS in India haven’t been revealed yet. We know for a fact that the China-spec model of the eZS is capable of developing a power of 150 hp, while delivering a drive range of 335 km on a single charge. Sources close to the company claim that in India, the electric SUV will deliver a range of over 250 km.
The biggest challenge MG is facing ahead of its India debut is regarding its dealership and service centre reach. The company is heavily focusing on building brand awareness among potential customers, while also slowly building its sales and after sales network. MG India is targeting to have 50 sales and service outlets in the country before the launch of the Hector SUV.
