MG Hector BS6 petrol launched in India, Know price details

MG Motor India has launched the BS6 compliant Petrol variants if its famous debut product in the country – the MG Hector SUV. The Hector petrol BS6 is priced from Rs. 12.74 lakh to Rs. 17.44 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This translates to a price hike of around Rs. 26,000 across all variants for the BS6 models.

It is worth noting that the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine of the Hector BS6 continues to churn 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. Therefore, there has been no changes to the power output of the Hector petrol, despite the lower emission standards. MG also continues to offer the Hector with a mild-hybrid configuration. Transmission options on offer include a 6-speed manual and a DCT automatic.

Except the lower emissions compliant engine, MG has made no other changes to the Hector’s package. As a result, it continues to offer the same set of features across the four trims – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp.

It is worth noting that MG Hector diesel is still a BS4 vehicle. However, with the BS6 norms getting mandatory from April 1, 2020, we expect to see the Hector diesel getting a BS6 compliant engine pretty soon. With the BS6 petrol, the Hector is currently only the second vehicle in its segment to have upgraded to the stricter emission norms, with the Kia Seltos being the only other SUV to have BS6 compliant engines. Meanwhile, we expect the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks to soon get BS6 compliant.
