Next-gen Honda City 2020 to be unveiled in India on March 16

Honda Cars India will unveil the India-spec next-gen City sedan on March 16, 2020. Bookings for the new City will commence on the same date. However, India launch of the updated model has been scheduled sometime later.

The manufacturer recently started teasing introduction of the new Honda City in India. The company even released a teaser video of the 2020 model. It is worth noting that the new Honda City has already been unveiled last year in Thailand. However, the India-spec model will feature some tweaks to suit Indian conditions and customer preferences.

Some of these India-specific changes include a dual tone cabin layout, faux brushed aluminium inserts, and electronic sunroof on the top-spec trim. Meanwhile, 16-inch alloy wheels and all-LED headlamps are expected to be offered as standard. On the design front, the City will continue to offer a sleek profile, with the headlamps and taillights beinf a lot more longer than before.

Powering the new-gem Honda City 2020 will be BS6 compliant versions of Honda’s 1.5-litre petrol and diesel blocks. Reports suggest that the petrol engine will even get the company’s latest mild-hybrid technology that was recently seen on the new-gen Jazz.

Once launched, the new 2020 Honda City sedan will continue to compete against the likes of the Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Toyota Yaris. It is worth noting that the Hyundai Verna too is expected to receive a major generation update in the coming few months.
