All-new Maruti Celerio to launch in India in Oct 2020

Maruti Suzuki is working on an all-new model of the Celerio that will be launched in India in the month of October 2020. This new model will be the second-gen version of the Celerio. It is worth noting that the current model was launched way back in 2014. As a result, the Celerio is due for its makeover to stay relevant in the Indian market.

The all-new Maruti Celerio will be based on the ‘Heartect’ platform. This new-age platform is also used in the Maruti Wagon R. Sources suggest that the new Celerio will be longer and wider than before. This will not just help in making more room for the interiors, but will also likely improve the road presence of the hatchback. We also expect Maruti to make the Celerio look a bit more dynamic in order to appeal to the younger audience.

On the inside, Maruti designers have reportedly made big changes for the new gen Celerio. It is expected to get better plastics, a new dashboard layout, and the company’s 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the top end trims.

On the power front, the new Maruti Celerio will continue to come with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine. This is the same black that powers the current version. However, a likely addition to the new Celerio’s specs sheet will be the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit from the Swift, Dzire, Ignis, Baleno, etc. This two engine arrangement will be similar to what Maruti has done in the past with the Wagon R.

Once launched, the new Maruti Celerio will continue to compete against the likes of the Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago, and even the Hyundai Grand i10.
