New Maruti Ignis 2019 to launch soon, reaches dealerships

Maruti Suzuki will soon launch an updated version of the Ignis hatchback. The new model has already reached dealerships. As a result, we expect the official launch to take place soon, with the deliveries commencing by March second week. The new Maruti Ignis 2019 gets some very minor cosmetic updates, and a few feature additions. However, no mechanical changes have been made to the updated model.

In order to be compliant with the upcoming safety regulations, all variants of the 2019 Ignis are now equipped with reverse parking sensors, a passenger-side seatbelt reminder, and a speed alert system. Additionally, the top two variants (Zeta and Alpha) now get Maruti’s updated SmartPlay Studio infotainment system and roof rails. It is still not known whether the LED projector headlamps and DRLs, which are currently available only on the top-end Alpha trim, are trickled down to lower variants as well on the updated model.

No mechanical changes have been made to the new 2019 Maruti Ignis. The hatchback thus continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 83 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. It is available with two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and an AMT automatic. It is important to note here that the Ignis was initially offered with a diesel engine as well. However, Maruti discontinued the same in June 2018 over low demand.
