Volkswagen has taken the wraps off its new-generation Polo in Berlin. The new model comes with comprehensive design updates, a new set of engines for the international markets and various driver assistance system. The car is expected to make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and will go on sale in European markets soon after. However, there are no plans to launch the new Volkswagen Polo 2018 in India as of now.
The new Polo is the sixth-generation model internationally. In India, we have only received the fifth-gen Polo, which is still on sale. The new Polo 2018 is built on Volkswagen’s modular MQB A0 platform. This new chassis has been developed using high strength light weight materials. As a result, the new Polo is around 100 kg lighter than the previous model. Lighter weight of the car helps in improving its mileage and makes it more fun to drive.
However, the biggest and most noticeable change made to the Polo is on the outside. One look at the new car and you will instantly recognise that it is a VW product. The new Polo also looks very similar to the present Golf. As a result, getting confused on the first glance is a possibility.
However, closer observation will reveal that the new Polo comes with completely new design scheme. The overall looks appear to be an evolution of the previous model. However, VW claims that every body panel on the new Polo 2018 is brand new. As a result, it surely is a fresh product, something that the Polo name did need, especially after close to 10 years of existence of the current-gen model.

New Volkswagen Polo 2018 Specifications
Volkswagen has added multiple engine options with the new-gen Polo for the international markets. These include four petrol and a sole diesel powerplant. The petrol engines include a 1.0L MPI naturally aspirated unit, a 1.0L TSI turbo unit, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a top-end ground shattering 2.0L TSI with the GTI variant. Meanwhile, the oil burner is a 1.6L turbocharged unit that will only be available in select markets.
