Renault Kwid BS6 price in India starts at Rs. 2.96 lakh

Renault India has updated the Kwid hatchback to be compliant with the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The BS6 Kwid has been priced from Rs. 2.96 lakh for the 0.8-litre engine and Rs. 4.33 lakh for the 1.0-litre engine. As a result, the BS6 compliant models are costlier by Rs. 9,000 variant-on-variant.

The new Kwid facelift was launched in India in October 2019. It received a major styling update, especially on the front, along with a few minor tweaks on the inside. The BS6 Renault Kwid continues to have the same styling and feature list, with the only change being in the engine department.

The Kwid continues to draw power from 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engines. Despite the lower emission standards, both engines produce the same power and torque outputs than before. Hence, the 0.8-litre block puts out 54 PS and 72 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the 1.0-litre engine is rated at 68 PS and 91 Nm. A 5-speed gearbox is standard across the range, while an AMT automatic is offered as an option with the larger 1.0-litre powerplant.

In India, the Renault Kwid competes against the likes of the Maruti Alto, Datsun redi-Go, and Maruti S-Presso. Datsun is yet to launch a BS6 compliant version of the redi-Go in India. However, since it uses the same engine as the Kwid, we expect to see a launch very soon. Meanwhile, the Alto and S-Presso both have already been updated to meet the BS6 compliance that comes into effect from 1st April 2020.

All prices mentioned above are ex-showroom, Delhi.
