Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus India price pegged at Rs 2.49 lakh

Royal Enfield has introduced a limited edition model of the Classic 500 motorcycle. Called the Pegasus, this new variant is priced in India at Rs. 2,49,217 (on-road, Mumbai). It is a general rule of economics that a limited supply tends to increase a good’s price. This happens due to the exclusivity factor that gets associated with a limited production model. Regular Royal Enfield Classic 500’s are a common sight on Indian roads. But there are a few buyers in the market that are looking for a product that can turn heads and is slightly rare to spot. Limited production run models like the RE Classic 500 Pegasus are mainly aimed at such potential buyers.

Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus design

The Classic 500 Pegasus is based on the regular model but comes with some significant cosmetic tweaks. The company claims that the design of the Pegasus edition is inspired from the RE/WD 125 Flying Flea motorcycle from the World War II.

It is available only in the Service Brown shade and gets Pegasus logo and badges for differentiation. Additionally, a unique serial number is embossed on the fuel tank, showing which of the limited 1,000 series models is the bike in question. Royal Enfield has tried to give the Classic 500 Pegasus edition a stealth look, thanks to the black treatment of engine, exhaust, handlebar, headlamp bezel and wheels.

But the biggest visual change to the Pegasus edition has been given in the form of canvas panniers, which make the bike look premium and vintage. Other cosmetic tweaks include leather straps around the air box and brass buckles, which are derived from the bikes of the World War II era. Owners who will be buying the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus will also get a complimentary RE helmet and t-shirt from the Pegasus edition.
