2017 Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition price in India, specs, differences

The Skoda Rapid will soon receive a new Monte Carlo edition in India. This new special edition model will be introduced in the country by the end of this month, i.e., August 2017. The Czech automaker has carefully chosen this launch date to undercut the festive season, when many car buyers enter the market. The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition has also been listed on the official website, revealing that official bookings of the special edition model have already commenced. A couple of dealerships that we contacted have also verified the same and have promised deliveries by the end of this month.

The Monte Carlo edition is essentially Skoda’s way of paying homage to the company’s racing culture and heritage. In addition to the Rapid, the Monte Carlo treatment has also been given to the Fabia, Yeti and Citigo, all of which are already on sale in the UK markets. However, the Rapid will become the first Monte Carlo edition model to go on sale in India.

Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo special edition expected price

Owing to various feature additions and cosmetic enhancements, the Rapid Monte Carlo edition will be priced slightly higher than the regular model range. It is expected to be based on the top-end trim level of the Rapid. We expect it to be priced at a premium of around Rs. 30,000, as compared to the regular Rapid model.

The 2017 Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition will come with a new red colour scheme with an all black interior layout. Additionally, there will be some blacked out design elements on the outside to add a bit of contrast to the Rapid Monte Carlo edition’s appearance. These blacked out elements will include the roof, front grille, alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and ORVM caps.

Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition specs and engine

No mechanical changes are expected to be made to the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition. It will thus be available with a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine options. It remains to be seen whether Skoda offers both manual and automatic transmission options with the Monte Carlo edition or sticks with either one of them.
