Tata Motors has revealed the official name of its upcoming premium hatchback that will be launched to compete with the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20. The Tata Altroz is essentially a production-spec version of the Tata 45X concept that was showcased at last year’s Auto Expo. It is based on the company’s latest IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. As a result, it will take design inspiration from the recently launched Tata Harrier.

The Altroz hatchback has already been spotted testing under heavy camouflage on public roads in India. As a result, we do have some basic idea about how the end product will look like. The Tata Altroz is thus expected to get a slim front grille, swept-back headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, blacked out c-pillar, and slim LED taillights. On the inside, the Tata Altroz will get a dashboard that will be widely inspired by the Harrier’s cabin. The premium hatchback will thus come with a floating touchscreen instrument cluster, 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, and two-pod instrument cluster with a large digital screen in the middle.

Under the hood, the Tata Altroz is expected to come with the same engine options that come with the Tiago and the Nexon. As a result, the Altroz petrol is expected to get a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine. Meanwhile, the Altroz diesel will get the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged block. Both manual and automatic transmission options are likely to be offered.
