Tata Nexon gets bigger touchscreen system and a new variant

Tata Motors has silently updated the Nexon variant line-up. The biggest change in the features department includes a larger 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This replaces the 6.5-inch touchscreen unit that was previously found on the compact SUV. It is worth noting that the touchscreen sytem is available only in XZ, XZ+ and XZA+ trims of the Tata Nexon. Interestingly, the company’s hasn’t hiked prices of any of these variants, despite the updated infotainment system.

Additionally, Tata has added a few features on the XT trim and is now calling it the XT+. This new variant comes with projector headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs), an 8-speaker audio system, front fog lamps, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. All this is available at a premium of just Rs. 7,000 over the price of the erstwhile Nexon XT variant.

However, Tata has also removed a few features to maintain this aggressive price tag. As a result, the Nexon XT+ variant doesn’t get automatic climate control and a shark fin antenna; something that was previously offered with the XT trim level. The Nexon XT petrol is priced at Rs. 7.98 lakh, while the diesel is pegged at Rs. 8.83 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

Tata Motors is also working on a mid-life facelift of the Nexon. As a result, we will soon see a new Nexon on sale in India. The company is expected to unveil the updated model at the 2020 Auto Expo in Greater Noida.
