Tata Tiago: Safety features now standard across range; Prices hiked

Tata Motors has made safety features standard on all variants of the Tiago hatchback. As a result, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, speed alert system, and seatbelt warning are now available in all variants of the Tiago. It is worth noting that Tata had already added ABS and EBD to all variants of the Tiago in early months of 2019. Owing to the added safety features, prices of the Tata Tiago in India have been hiked. As a result, the base model now starts at Rs. 4.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This marks an increase of around Rs. 13,000.

The said update appears to have been made in anticipation of the upcoming government regulations around passenger safety. Expected to be implemented from July 1, 2019, these new regulations make it mandatory for all cars to come with a driver side airbag, rear parking sensors, speed alert and seatbelt warning.

No other change appears to have been made to the Tata Tiago, in addition to the standard safety features. As a result, the Tiago continues to be offered with two engine options. These include a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol and a 1.05-litre, three-cylinder turbo diesel.

There are also reports about Tata working on a facelift of the Tiago, which will be launched in a few months. You can read more about it on this link. Additionally, we expect the Tigor compact sedan to also receive the standard safety features updated in a few weeks.
