Tata Motors is working on a hot hatchback version of the Tiago. Likely to be called the Tata Tiago Sport, this new model is expected to be launched in the next couple of months. The Indian automaker will also likely showcase the performance-oriented Tiago Sport at the 2018 Auto Expo in February.
Not much is known yet about the Tata Tiago Sport. However, we have a close source that works at the company’s Sanand manufacturing facility. This unnamed source of ours has claimed that the sporty version of the Tiago will be launched in India very soon. The company has already completed all homologation related formalities with ARAI. It has also tested the car on Indian roads, with the body shell of the regular Tiago. This is the reason that no major Tiago Sport spy shots have surfaced on the Internet yet.

We have also learnt that the 2018 Tata Tiago Sport will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. In comparison, the regular Tiago gets a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated powerplant. The car is also expected to get a tweaked suspension, all-round disc brakes, and a few cosmetic tweaks to differentiate the Tiago Sport and the regular model. It might also get some added features, though our source isn’t sure about any such addition.

The India launch of the Tiago Sport is expected to be scheduled sometime in 2018. Our close source suggests that the launch will take place in the next couple of months. Hence, we are expecting an official announcement by February 2018 and a launch around the Auto Expo.

2018 Tata Tiago Sport expected price
As per media reports, the Tiago Sport is set to become the most affordable hot hatch in the Indian market. And it is bound to be so! The Tiago is an extremely well-priced product. We compared it to its biggest rival and found out how it manages to completely outshine the Maruti Celerio, thanks to the VFM price tag.
Hence, with a more powerful version, the Tata Tiago Sport is expected to undercut the complete range of hot hatchbacks available in India. It will thus be priced lower than the Maruti Baleno RS, VW Polo GT and the Abarth Punto.
Certain rumours on the Internet suggest the Tata Tiago Sport price to range from Rs 6 to 7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Tata Tiago Sport specifications
As per our insider sources, the 2018 Tata Tiago Sport will borrow its engine from the recently launched Nexon compact SUV. It will be available only with a petrol engine. Hence, powering the Tiago Sport will be a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Revotron petrol unit developing 108 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox.
