Maruti Suzuki, a prominent Indian automaker, has unveiled the production-ready prototype of its first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the eVX SUV, at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Show 2024. This all-electric SUV is scheduled to be launched in India by the end of the year, marking the brand's entry into the electric vehicle market.
The eVX, initially showcased at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, takes center stage at the Bharat Expo as the model tailored for the Indian market. Significantly, Maruti Suzuki emphasizes that the eVX will undergo substantial localization and plans to export it to various countries, commencing with Europe.
Sharing its platform with the Toyota Urban SUV Concept, based on Toyota's 27PL skateboard architecture, the eVX boasts dimensions of 4,300mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,600mm in height. Notably, the vehicle is equipped with a 60kWh battery pack, offering an impressive estimated driving range of up to 550km on a single charge.
Recent sightings of the Maruti Suzuki eVX test mule on Indian roads have unveiled key features and technologies. The model is set to be loaded with cutting-edge features, including all-LED lights, connected tail lamps, an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, a 360-degree surround camera, flush-fitted rear door handles, a dual-screen setup for the dashboard, and more.
