The Volkswagen Polo has received a special edition model in India. Called the Polo Pace, this new version is available only in the Comfortline variant with a price of Rs. 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India).
On the outside, the only change visible in the Polo Pace special edition is the new set of 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, which adds dynamism to the car’s character. It is worth noting that the current-gen Polo has been on sale in India for the past 8 years without any major change. Volkswagen India did introduce a few minor updates and facelifts for the hatchback, but it has been adorning the same sheet metal structure since 2010.
As a result, the introduction of the Pace special edition can be seen as Volkswagen’s attempt to slightly spruce up the Polo lineup in India and attract a few more customers. Interestingly, VW has already unveiled the new-gen Polo in the international markets. However, it is not yet known whether the same would be launched in India anytime soon.
On the inside, the Volkswagen Polo Pace edition continues to get a dashboard layout that is similar to the one seen on the regular range. This includes a 3-spoke flat bottom steering wheel and a 2 DIN music system that supports Bluetooth, iPod, USB and AUX-IN connectivity. Dual front airbags and ABS with EBD are standard on the special edition Polo.
No mechanical changes have been made to the Polo Pace. Hence, it continues to be offered with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine rated at 74 bhp and 95 Nm of peak torque, while being coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This new engine was recently introduced to the entire Polo lineup, thus replacing the old 1.2-litre, three-cylinder powerhouse. There’s no diesel option on offer with the special edition variant.
The Volkswagen Polo Pace special edition will be a limited run model. Hence, if you are planning to go for one, hurry up before the stocks run out!
