The Hyundai Venue is Hyundai’s foray into the highly popular, and equally competitive Compact SUV marketplace. It looks like a mini-Creta, which isn’t a bad thing, given the popularity of the bigger Hyundai. Available with three engine options and loaded to the brim with features, the Hyundai Venue is all set to make a significant mark on the Indian car market and is thus an upcoming car that a lot of people are waiting for. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon.

MG Hector

India Launch – June 2019

The Hector SUV will be the first car that MG Motor will launch in India. It is thus an extremely important launch for the manufacturer. Production of this upcoming SUV has already commenced at the company’s plant in Halol, Gujarat. MG will offer the Hector with a suite of features, including some segment-first connectivity capabilities. Do note that the MG Hector will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. It will be competing in the same space as the Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass.

Kia SP SUV

India launch – Mid 2019 (expected)

MG Motor isn’t the only highly awaited automaker debuting in the Indian market. Kia Motors, which is a sister-concern of the country’s second largest car maker – Hyundai, is also eyeing the growing Indian car market and has some solid plans for the same. The company has already established a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and is all set to roll out its first offering, an SUV based on the SP Concept that was showcased at last year’s auto expo. Expected to be called the Kia Trazor, this upcoming SUV will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks.

Toyota Glanza

India Launch – May 2019

The Toyota Glanza is essentially a re-badged Maruti Baleno. It is a result of the recently announced partnership between the two Japanese auto giants, under which Maruti will be sharing a few models with Toyota, which will then be sold under the latter’s name. It will be offered just with Suzuki’s 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine and will be differentiated with the Baleno thanks to a revised front grille and new badges all around. In addition to the Baleno, the Toyota Glanza will be rivaling the Honda Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20.

Tata Altroz

India launch – Diwali 2019 (expected)

Another upcoming car launch in the premium hatchback space is the Tata Altroz. It is essentially the production version of the 45X concept that the Indian automaker had showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The Altroz has already been unveiled globally, at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. We thus know how this upcoming Tata car will look in its production guise. However, the official specifications aren’t known yet. We expect the Tata premium hatchback to come with a petrol as well as a diesel engine, both of which will be available with manual and automatic transmission options. Additionally, Tata is also working on an all-electric version of the Altroz for the Indian market.
