New Hyundai Grand i10 Nios launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Hyundai Motor India has launched the new Grand i10 Nios at a starting price of Rs. 4.99 lakh for the petrol variants and Rs. 6.70 lakh for the diesel range (all prices are ex-showroom). At this price point, the Nios will sit between the regular Grand i10 and the Elite i20 in Hyundai’s Indian portfolio. It is worth noting that the first gen Grand i10 will continue to be on sale in India, though the diesel variants will be discontinued.

The new Grand i10 Nios is available in a total of 10 variants. There are 4 engine and gearbox options on offer, with both petrol and diesel engines getting MT as well as MT transmissions. In comparison to the regular Grand i10, the Nios is priced at a premium of Rs. 1,000 for the base variants and Rs. 36,000 for the top-end models. It is important to note that since the Nios comes with an AMT unit instead of the Grand i10’s CVT, automatic variants of the Nios are around Rs. 15,000 cheaper than their Grand i10 counterparts.

There is no doubt about the fact that the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is a good-looking car. It gets a cascading grille at the front with chrome detailing and LED DRLs on higher variants. Top-spec trims even come with projector headlamps and projector fog lamps. The side profile is characterized by a sloping roof line, blacked out c-pillar, and new tastefully designed alloy wheels. The rear-end looks a lot like that of the Tata Tiago, thanks to a similar taillight arrangement. The new Grand i10 Nios is available in 6 monotone colour options (white, silver, grey, red, blue and teal) and 2 dual-tone options (Aqua Teal with a black roof and Polar White with a black roof).

Being a Hyundai, there is no dearth of features on offer. Higher variants (Sportz and Asta) of the new Grand i10 Nios thus come with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features on offer include an automatic climate control, keyless entry and go, wireless charging, 5.3-inch partially digital instrument cluster, cooled glove box, rear parking camera, and electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs.

Occupant safety is taken care of by the presence of dual airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelts with pretensioners, and rear parking sensors on all variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. All this makes this new Hyundai hatchback compliant with the upcoming crash test and pedestrian safety norms.

Powering the new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios are two engine options. The BS-VI compliant 1.2-litre, for cylinder petrol engine is capable of delivering 83 PS and 114 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while an AMT automatic is offered in the Magna and Sportz trims. The petrol MT variants have an ARAI approved fuel economy of 20.7 km/l, with the petrol AMT variants boasting a figure of 20.5 km/l.

Meanwhile, diesel variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios are powered by a BS-IV compliant 1.2-litre, four-cylinder block, developing 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. Both these diesel powertrains (manual and automatic) have an ARAI-certified mileage of 26.2 km/l.
