New 2020 Hyundai i20 to be launched in India on November 5

Hyundai India will officially launch the next-gen i20 hatchback on November 5, 2020. This will mark the introduction of the third-generation of the popular hatchback in the country. The new-gen Hyundai i20 has already been internationally revealed earlier this year, thus giving us a fairly good idea about how the car will look like.

Hyundai has also announced that it has started accepting bookings for the new 2020 i20. Customers who wish to book the hatchback can do so by paying a token amount of Rs. 21,000. Like any other car, people who book the new i20 before the launch will likely get the delivery sooner, as compared to those who wait till the launch. Bookings are being accepted at all authorised Hyundai dealerships in the country as well as Hyundai’s Click-to-Buy online retail platform.

The new i20 will be available with three engine options – two petrol and a diesel. The 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit from the current generation has been taken forward. It comes with a manual as well as a CVT automatic transmission. The 2020 Hyundai i20 will also come with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, mated to an iMT clutchless manual gearbox. The same turbo petrol unit will also be available with a DCT (dual clutch transmission). This is the same powertrain that we have seen on the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. Meanwhile, the diesel 2020 i20 will come with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit available with a sole manual gearbox.

Upon launch, the new Hyundai i20 will compete against the likes of the Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz, and Honda Jazz.
