The next-generation Hyundai i20 hatchback will be unveiled by mid 2020. It is expected to be based on an all new platform and will come with a comprehensively revised design philosophy. However, the car is still in its initial phases of development and thus final details are still scarce.
The current generation Hyundai i20 was launched in 2014. It subsequently received a mid life facelift in 2017. Hence, the car would be 6 years old by the time the next gen model is unveiled. It is worth noting that the hatchback will only be globally unveiled by mid 2020. However, an India launch of the new Hyundai i20 is expected to be scheduled some time in 2021.
The Hyundai Elite i20 is famous for its equipment level as well as refinement. It is placed in India’s premium hatchback marketplace. As a result, the hatchback goes head on against rivals like the Maruti Baleno and Honda Jazz. By the time the new-gen model is launched, this segment will also be invaded by the new Tata X45, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018.
