Nissan Magnite Compact SUV Concept unveiled

Nissan has unveiled a concept vehicle that will underpin its debut production model in the Compact SUV segment. Called the Nissan Magnite Compact SUV concept, this new vehicle previews the company’s competitor to the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, and Mahindra XUV300.

Cosmetically, the Nissan Magnite sure looks appealing. It has a large grille at the front, that looks like it has come from Datsun designers. The A and C pillars have a steeper angle, giving it a crossover-like presence. Flared wheel arches, black plastic cladding, faux skid plates on the front and rear bumpers, and roof rails helps add ruggedness to the Magnite’s character.

The headlamps are slim and follow the design language that we see on the Nissan Kicks. There are L-shaped Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) on offer. Meanwhile, the rear end gets stylish LED taillights and a funky looking bumper.

Though interiors of the Nissan Magnite concept haven’t been revealed yet, the Japanese manufacturer has announced that the production-spec Magnite will be loaded to the gills with features. As a result, we expect to see the top-end variants coming with touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, 360-degree camera, and cruise control.

Nissan was expected to launch the Magnite Compact SUV in India around the festive season of 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the production scheduled to be delayed. Hence, Nissan announced that it will postpone the Magnite India launch to January 2021. It will be introduced in the price range of Rs. 6.5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
