Skoda India has launched the Octavia RS has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 24.62 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). This marks the comeback of the performance oriented variant of the Octavia to India. However, the previous model was named the Skoda Octavia vRS, while the new variant just gets the RS suffix. It is worth noting that the 2017 Skoda Octavia RS is the most powerful car from the manufacturer in India.

For the uninformed, Skoda had launched a mid-life facelift of the Octavia a couple of months back. This new Octavia 2017 came with some cosmetic updates on the outside and a few feature additions on the inside. However, there were no changes made to the engine department. Now, Skoda has brought a performance-oriented version of the facelifted model, which comes with larger engines that produce more power and torque.

The Octavia RS has been priced at Rs. 24.62 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). Meanwhile, the regular Octavia lineup pans in a price range from Rs. 15.49 lakh to Rs. 22.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The RS model is available in a single variant and is offered only with a petrol engine option.

The Skoda Octavia RS 2017 comes with a turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 230 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque, while power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed DSG gearbox. This powertrain is capable of accelerating the car from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, before reaching its top speed of 250 km/h.
