The Toyota Vios sedan will finally be launched in India in 2018. This comes after some sources confirmed that the company has internally set a target of launching the mid-size sedan before Diwali 2018. In order to achieve this, Toyota engineers are working heavily localising the car to ensure competitive prices.
Before launch, the Vios might be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in the month of February. Toyota hasn’t yet revealed an official timeline for the introduction of the Vios in India, but the car has been spotted multiple times while testing on public roads.
The Vios coming to India would be the facelifted 3rd-gen model that was launched last year in Thailand. It gets revised styling that makes it look similar to the updated Corolla and Camry sedans. This will not only enhance Toyota’s portfolio reach, but will also make the family face a more regular sight on Indian roads. This is where having similar design language across the sedan range helps.

Toyota Vios Specifications
The India-spec Vios will likely be offered with two engine options: a petrol and a diesel. The petrol model will borrow its engine from the Thailand-spec Vios, which gets a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 108BHP and 140 NM of torque. Meanwhile, the diesel engine will be the same powerplant that powers the Etios. However, this diesel engine will come with a retuned power and torque outputs.
