Audi Q2 to launch in India in September 2020

Audi India is preparing to launch its entry-level SUV, the Audi Q2, in the country in the month of September 2020. This will mark introduction of the most affordable SUV to be launched by the German marquee in India. With the Q2 launch, Audi is aiming to expand its target audience by making the brand available at a lower price point.

As its name suggests, the Audi Q2 SUV will be pegged below the Q3. It is worth noting that the Audi Q3 will also be receiving a generation update later this year. The Q2 is based on Volkswagen group’s MQB platform. It measures 4,191mm in length, 1,794mm in width, 1,508mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,601mm. While the compact dimensions suit city needs, they do negatively affect the SUV’s road presence.

On the outside, the Audi Q2 gets design elements that make it instantly identifiable as ab Audi SUV. However, Audi designers have added a few elements to make the Q2 look a bit more masculine and physically significant than it actually is. The front end gets a large single frame grille with the Audi logo in the center. Black body cladding is available throughout the car’s exteriors in order to lend it a tough stance. The rear gets squared tallights and a wide tailgate.

Under the hood, the Audi Q2 in India will come with a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out 190 PS and 320 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a sole 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. Interestingly, the India-spec Audi Q2 will also come with the company’s Quattro all wheel drive system.

The 2020 Audi Q2 is expected to be priced in India around Rs. 35 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, the Q2 has no direct competition in the Indian market. This will surely be a big opportunity for Audi India to capture an untapped sector and bring more customers into its bandwagon.
