Maruti Suzuki will officially launch the S-Presso cross-hatch in India on September 30. This new model is expected to be a production version of the Future S concept that the carmaker had showcased during the 2018 Auto Expo.
Maruti has been quite tight-lipped about details of the new S-Presso cross-hatch. However, a recent report on popular automotive forum Team-BHP reveals a few details about the upcoming car from Maruti. According to the said report, Maruti will start teasing the S-Presso India launch from the first week of September. The report also confirms that the Maruti S-Presso will be launched in India as an entry-level model, but will come with some aggressive SUV-like design elements to attract young buyers.
Some other details surfacing from the Team-BHP report mention that the cross-hatch will come with a dynamic centre console with the speedometer console located in the middle of the dashboard. Also, the S-Presso will be a fairly tall vehicle, which will not just aid its SUV-like looks, but also help make the ingress and egress easier. This will also result in best-in-class ground clearance.
We aren’t yet sure about the powertrain options that will be made available with the Maruti S-Press. However, the car is expected to get a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine. This will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox.
Once launched, the Maruti S-Presso cross-hatch will be sold through the company’s regular Arena dealerships. It will compete against the likes of the Renault Kwid and Datsun redi-GO.
