The 2017 Jeep Compass has been recalled in India over a passenger airbag-related issue. This information was revealed through a press release that mentioned around 1,200 units to be affected by the recall. This will include all Compass models manufactured between September 5, 2017 and November 19, 2017.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), which owns the Jeep brand, has claimed that the said recall has been announced to fix loose fasteners in the passenger side airbag module. These loose fasteners can pose a threat to the SUV’s occupants in case the passenger airbag deploys in an accident.
Though no injuries have yet been reported about the same, Jeep India has taken the precautionary step to ensure that its brand name remains untarnished, especially at a time when the Compass is receiving a superb response from the Indian buyers. Hence, it is worth an applause for Jeep to bravely announce a recall and fix any issues that went unnoticed during the manufacturing process.

The Jeep Compass India recall is part of a global recall issued by the American car maker. In addition to the cars sold in India, 7,000 units in US and around 1,000 units in Canada and Mexico have also been affected due to the airbag recall.
The Compass was launched in India in July this year. It has received a great response from the Indian buyers, thanks to its value for money package, the Jeep brand name, and some potent engine options on offer. Jeep India has sold over 8,000 units of the Compass SUV till date, and is said to have a bookings backlog of around 2,000 orders.
