MG Motors has unveiled its first product in India – the MG Hector SUV, that will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, and Tata Harrier. MG Motor has claimed that the Hector SUV will be manufactured locally in India. It will be localised to levels over 75%. MG Hector India Launch Date and Bookings
MG Motor launched the Hector SUV in India on June 27, 2019. However, an official unveiling of the SUV had already taken place on May 15.
Thanks to intelligent pre-launch marketing and the aggressive price tag, the Hector SUV managed to accumulate over 10,000 bookings on Day 1 post its launch.

MG Hector Specifications
The MG Hector SUV is available with petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol options include a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged powerplant that generates 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque, while being mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). This engine is also available with a mild-hybrid system that comes with a Belt Starter Generator Motor that is capable of putting out 20 Nm of additional torque whenever required. The mild-hybrid system also gets automatic engine on/off and a regenerative braking system.
Meanwhile, the diesel engine is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged block that is capable of exhaling 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The only transmission option available with the diesel engine is a 6-speed manual.
