Maruti Suzuki has taken the wraps off the new-generation Swift. The Maruti Swift has always been a very important and popular model in the Indian market. But before we talk about the 2018 Maruti Swift’s variants and features, it is important to explain how the trim levels are spread out and what all engine options are available with each of them. So, the new Maruti Swift has been launched in 4 trims – LXi/LDi, VXi/VDi, ZXi/ZDi, and ZXi+/ZDi+. As is the case with all Maruti cars, the variants with ‘X’ in the centre get a petrol engine, while those with a ‘D’ are the diesel models. Hence, (LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+) are all petrol variants, while (LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi+) get a diesel engine.
All these variants come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) has also been added to the new Swift. This AMT automatic gearbox is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. However, customers can only opt for this in the V and Z trims, i.e., VXi/VDi and ZXi/ZDi variants. So a buyer who wants the new Maruti Swift AMT can not opt for the entry-level or top-end trims, and will have to settle for the middle variants.
