Next-gen Royal Enfield Classic Spotted in India, Images Inside

Royal Enfield appears to be working on a new-gen model of its Classic range of motorcycle. The RE Classic, currently available with 350 and 500 cc engines, is the company’s most popular range of bikes in the country. As a result, a new-gen model can only help in further enhancing the popularity as well as sales footprint of the motorcycle, and its manufacturer, in the country.

Closer inspection of the spy shot reveal some mechanical as well as cosmetic updates made to the new Royal Enfield Classic. For example, the front and rear disc brakes, currently available on the left side of the bike, are now shofted to the right side. This has caused the chain to shift from the right side to the left.

Also noticeable is a much smaller exhaust pipe. This can be a result of Royal Enfield using a new exhaust system to make the Classic range compliant with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. Or else, it can simply be the manufacturer’s attempt to enhance the looks of the new RE Classic.

Sources suggest that Royal Enfield has also reworked the front and rear suspension to improve the ride quality and handling of the new Classic. The rear suspension system, which currently includes twin gas-charged shock absorbers, appears to have been ditched for slightly better looking units that help in enhancing the bike’s retro looks.

On the cosmetic side, the new Royal Enfield Classic gets longer fenders, a sleeker taillight assembly, and new footpegs that are placed much wider than before. The wider footpeg placement, along with a new seat and a backrest for the pillion, are likely to enhance comfort levels on the bike.

It is worth noting that the taller windscreen, chrome crash guard, and saddle bags seen in the image will most likely be offered as official accessories. As a result, these parts won’t be part of standard equipment.
