Tata Hexa Price in India, Specifications, Colours, Variants, Mileage

Tata Motors had launched the Hexa SUV in India on January 18th 2017, at prices in the range of Rs. 11.99 lakh for the base trim and Rs. 17.49 lakh for the top-end variant (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). As per official data revealed,  the automaker has till now received around 5,000 bookings for the SUV. It must be noted here that the company had started bookings of the Hexa in the month of November itself. Additionally, Tata has also revealed that it dispatched 1,498 units of the Hexa to its dealers in January 2017. This is a commendable start for the SUV, which is currently Tata’s newest flagship.

Tata Hexa Bookings & Waiting Period

Our insider sources claim that Tata Motors had received around 3,000 bookings for the Hexa, even before its official launch. After January 2017, the automaker announced that it has received 5,000 bookings for the SUV. Interestingly, around 60% bookings of the Hexa have been recorded for the Automatic variants. Currently, the Hexa demands a waiting period of around 3 months.

Tata Hexa Variants & Features

The Tata Hexa comes in three trim levels: the entry-level XE, the mid-level XM and the top-end XT. The XM and XT are available with 6-speed MT as well as 6-speed AT gearboxes. The automatic variants get a new nomenclature – XMA and XTA. Moreover, the top-end XT trim is available with an all-wheel-drive variant, called the XT 4×4. As a result, there are a total of 6 variants on offer with the Tata Hexa. However, these six variants are distributed amongst three trim levels: XE, XM and XT. Tata Hexa Specifications

The Hexa borrows its engine from the Tata Safari Varicor. As a result, it is powered by a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine. This engine is available in two states of tune: the VARICOR 320 with 148 BHP and 320 Nm of torque on the entry-level XE variant, and the VARICOR 400 on the XM and XT variants. The former gets a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the later is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed auto. While lower variants are offered in a 4×2 setup, the top-end XT variant gets an AWD system as an option.

Tata Hexa Mileage

Interestingly, Tata Motors didn’t announce the mileage of the Hexa during its launch. When we got the official Press Release later today, it mentioned that the ARAI fuel efficiency figures for the Hexa are 14.4 km/l. But for which variant? There are a slew of powertrain options available with the SUV, but Tata didn’t bother mentioning which variant is the aforementioned mileage for. As a result, we had to personally contact with the folks at Tata Motors to get the required information.
