hile the rearThe 2017 Mahindra KUV100 NXT has been launched in India at prices in the range of Rs. 4.39 lakh to Rs. 7.33 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The KUV NXT is essentially a mildly updated cosmetic facelift of Mahindra’s micro crossover. It is available in five trim levels and two engine options.
For the facelifted version, Mahindra has tried to tone down the KUV100’s overall design. The front grille has been reworked and gets more prominent chrome whiskers. The bumper too has been tweaked to feature a relatively modest design, as compared to the quirky looking structure of the previous model. The side profile looks similar, while the rear gets redesigned taillamps and a slightly tweaked bumper.
The KUV100 was first launched in India in the month of January 2016. It started the micro-hatchback segment in the country. The KUV was basically meant for those who like an SUV’s stance, but prefer a smaller car. However, in order to add the SUVish characteristics to the car, Mahindra went overboard. This resulted in a quirky design that didn’t really appeal to a wide audience.
In its initial days, the KUV100 started well and clocked sales of 5,000 units per month. However, as more and more models filled Indian roads, people started to notice the quirky design of the micro SUV. Hence, the sales continued to do slide down and the KUV100 monthly sales currently stand at just around 2,000 units. The introduction of competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Ignis made matters worse for the small Mahindra SUV.
As a result, Mahindra has now introduced the mid-life update – the KUV100 NXT in order to eliminate all existing limitations of the car.
2017 Mahindra KUV100 NXT facelift India price range
The 2017 Mahindra KUV100 NXT is available in five variants – K2, K2+, K4+, K6+, K8, all of which are available with two engine options – a petrol and a diesel. Prices for the new KUV100 NXT ranges from Rs. 4.39 lakh to Rs. 6.40 lakh for the petrol variants and Rs. 5.39 lakh to Rs. 7.33 lakh for the diesel models (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
