Tata Nexon gets new XZ+(S) trim with electric sunroof, priced from 10 lakh

Tata Nexon has quietly received an update in its trim line. The company has added a new trim, called the Nexon XZ+(S), which will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options, as well as the manual and automatic transmissions. The XZ+(S) has been launched to fill the gap between the XZ+ and the XZ+(O) trims.

The new Tata Nexon XZ+(S) is priced at Rs. 10.10 lakh for the petrol manual variant and Rs. 11.60 lakh for the diesel manual variant. Meanwhile, the automatic variants, that are sold as the XZA+(S), are priced at Rs. 10.70 lakh and Rs. 12.20 lakh, respectively. At this price point, the Nexon XZ+(S) trim is costlier than the XZ+ by around Rs. 60,000. However, it is Rs. 30,000 more affordable than the top-end XZ+(O) trim. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.

There are some major feature additions made to the XZ+(S) over the XZ+, making it one of the most value-for-money trims available for the Nexon compact SUV. These include electronic sunroof, leather wrapped gear knob and steering wheel, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring system. All these features till now were offered only with the top-spec XZ+(O) variants. Post this trim addition, the only major thing that the XZ+(S) lacks over the XZ+(O) is the company’s connected car technology.

No mechanical changes have been made to the Tata Nexon. The new XZ+(S) variant will thus available with two engine options – 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel. Both these engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox.

The Tata Nexon compact SUV competes with the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Mahindra XUV300.
