Maruti Suzuki has revealed the 2020 facelift of the Ignis hatchback. The updated model comes with a few cosmetic updates inside-out, along with a new BS6 compliant petrol engine. Prices of the new Ignis facelift will be revealed at a later date, when the model will be launched in India. However, bookings for the 2020 Ignis have commenced across all Maruti dealerships in the country.
On the outside, the 2020 Maruti Ignis comes with a revised front grille that comes with a toothy new pattern that is similar to the one seen on the Vitara Brezza facelift and the Suzuki Jimny. The front and rear bumpers have also been tweaked and now get faux silver skid plates. The updated model is being offered with two new sold colours – Lucent Orange and Turquoise Blue, along with three new dual-tone paint schemes – Nexa Blue with black, Lucent Orange with black, and Nexa blue with silver.
On the inside, the changes are limited to an updated 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that now comes with the company’s S-Connect connectivity features, inbuilt navigation, and voice command recognition.
The only mechanical change made to the 2020 Ignis is the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that is now compliant with BS6 emission norms. The 5-speed manual and AMT automatic transmission options will continue to be on offer on the updated model. Despite the lower emissions, the Ignis BS6 puts out the same 83 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque as the BS4 model. However, we are yet to know whether the BS6 tuning has affected the fuel efficiency of the Ignis, which was previously rated at 20.89 km/l.
